From the Faculty of Social Sciences and Information Technologies of Talavera de la Reina, we wish to express our deepest sorrow and strong condemnation in the face of the brutal murder of María Belén Cortés Flor, a social educator in Extremadura.
This act of violence not only takes the life of a professional committed to improving our society, but it also represents an attack on the values of coexistence, respect, and justice that we defend as a society. The work of social educators is essential for building more just and inclusive communities, and their safety must be an undisputed priority.
We stand in solidarity with the family, friends, colleagues, and the entire educational and social community during this painful time. We also urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to clarify the events and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
From our institution, we reiterate our firm commitment to the fight against violence in all its forms and to the defense of the rights of those professionals working for the welfare and social development of others.
We call for unity and collective reflection to continue building a society free from violence, where respect for life and the dignity of individuals is the fundamental pillar of our coexistence.
