Study Programme information

The University Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering qualifies its holder to practice the profession of Telecommunications Engineer, as established by Ministerial Order CIN/352/2009, of 9 February (Official State Gazette no. 44 of 20 February 2009) which establishes the requirements for the verification of official university degrees which qualify their holders to practice the profession of Telecommunications Engineer.

The Master’s programme is aimed at graduates of degree courses which qualify their holders to practice the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer; these candidates have direct admission to the programme. Technical Telecommunications Engineers will also have admission to this Master’s programme, however they will need to complete additional courses.

Today’s Information Society generates an ever increasing demand for highly qualified professionals in Communications and Information Technologies and their application for positions in companies in the telecommunications sector (telecommunications equipment manufacturers or telecommunications operators) or any other type of companies, institutions or organisations, to design, manage and operate their own systems, telecommunications systems and networks.

The professional pathway provides Master’s graduates with technical training in fields related to Telecommunications Engineering.

The research pathway confers admission to PhD programmes and other professional and/or postgraduate research programmes pursuant to the legislation in force.

The Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering is comprised of 72 ECTS credits. It is divided into five modules (Advanced Communication Systems, Design and Management of telematics networks, Advanced Electronic Systems, and Master’s Dissertation).

–Technical and leadership roles in ICT sector companies (telecommunications, electronics, Computer Science, network operators, consultancy, robotics etc.)
– Technical and leadership roles in companies which traditionally are not related to ICT (energy, aeronautics, healthcare, defence, security, transport, leisure, banking, etc.)
– Freelancer, carrying out projects, studies, consultations and expert reports entrusted by companies and individual customers.
– Research, development and innovation in public centres and departments. Research, development and innovation in large companies.
–  In the Public Administration, at national, regional or local level and international organisations.
